Considering what you were up against - delays, delays, Kagome's wrath, THAT other movie - I'd say you've done brilliantly for it.
Author's Response:
Heh. Thanks. I passed the 3.5 mark =o
I am happy. Next time I am going for a 4.0. OH GOD THE STANDARDS!

Graphics: based on the Sonic X art style, which I'm not a real fan of. On the whole, they could do with some improvement. I'm knocking off a point for Nazo in particular because, let's face it. Evil hedgehog screams post-Heroes Shadow, and the character design (which you admit is used on a promo posters) is too familiar to Silver.
Style: as you've admitted in previous review responses, the idea of 'good guy goes on revenge rampage' has been overdone. It begs the question though, as to why this movie is so similar to the aforementioned Goku/Freiza (sp?) fight.
Sound: hacking bits from the Sonic games and putting them together with one (or two?) new, untalented voice actors to plug in the gaps. Seems a mite bit lazy. Also, the song "Open Your Heart" featured, which gives you an extra point on top.
Violence: gut punches, the use of a gun (way to reference the godawful Shadow game, there), bruises that fade away and people that disappear in the face of gigantisised laser blasts... it strangely seems a little toned down.
Interactivity: naturally you're not getting many points for this, and it's not your fault for that, really.
Humour: absent, and it's probably better that way.
Conclusion: I can't say I'm fond of this flash. The idea of a mystery antagonist and DBZ-esque fights has been done to death now, even with the Sonic series. Granted the 'Dark Super Sonic' character was used - and if anyone else here suddenly thinks Digimon, give yourself a biscuit - which makes a change, but the execution of the idea on the whole is very sloppy.
Author's Response:
Really? I only used color references from Sonic X, while basing the drawings (aside from Nazo) on the Sonic drawings by Sega.
"Good guy on rampage" I wouldn't think it's overdone. It has BEEN done, but not to the point that it's cliche to me.
I wouldn't call it lazy...Going through thousands of voice files, choosing the appropiate ones and editing some of them to make new sounds is hardly lazy.
But yeah like you pointed out, how could this be a Dragonball Z rip off plot-wise? I don't remember Goku going all evil to fight Frieza.

It's a sprite movie where the quality of the sprites seems to vary (blurred, non-blurred, or 8-bit?) and clash, but never really excel. One factor of the SSB is that the camera constantly zooms and scrolls to make the fighters the focus of the screen, so it looks more dynamic when the fighters move. None of that shows up here.
The movement of the characters is slow and badly implemented. The sprites should move around more naturally instead of using diagonal jumps and floating over the arenas.
On the whole, it's a nice idea, but one that's very badly executed.

I couldn't but laugh at the "ice-cream on the ground" part. And the moral of the story is... ninjas are jerks. Heh. "You're a credit to this community! Have some ice cream!" "TOUGH COOKIE!" *splat*
Aye. Basically, very smooth, if remarkably tweenified, with tongue firmly in cheek. Very nice work, sir.
Author's Response:
Heh, well I find tweens work better for this art style.

To sum it up: as a message to people to get a reality check, it's half-successful - mostly for the fact that a lot of people don't like Foamy.
As a flash movie in it's own right, it fails the hardest, so to speak.
Better luck next time.

Yeah. To everyone who complained about that... kindly shut up. It's been, what... FOUR YEARS NOW? And of course, that's when the Western Armed Forces decided to nuke the Middle East and cause so much conflict.
War on Terror, my ass. Worse than Crazy Frog.
Anyway. The game was pointless to play. Each stage basically entailed in you clicking a picture. Then, Motion Tween Kitty to the rescue. Wow. And then the WTC blew up. The end.
The graphics were pretty bad cut outs, the sound was very weak... the spelling was deliberately atrocious. Don't make a sequel. Next time you make a Flash movie, please put some effort into it.

Apart from the pilot, this is the first R&M I've seen with voice acting... and surprisingly enough, it's not complete rubbish. The whole "hand VS face" segment seemed a little drawn-out, but then that's probably to co-ordinate with the music.
Good use of the tradition 'sign language' near the end, and the eyeball trick... great way to end it.
There's only one thing I'm concerned about. The music you use as the ending theme for every R&M episode... where does it come from?
Other than that, high marks and a thumbs up.

Cat throws iron with disastrous results. I think I like it because of the very 'wacky' use of sound effects (the truck horn was just fantastic) and the overtones of violence. It seems very scrappy in places, but for early work it's not too bad at all.

So what we have here, is basically the Numa Numa remade with what looks like a trio of chavs.
If you're not sure about the meaning of that, let's put it this way - these people are retards, the kind you'll find clinging onto yet another a hateful craze in order to gain some feeble celebrity status.
If you want the true Numa, go watch it. There's no point whatsoever in viewing this movie.

"Genius has a new name. Firth."
No doubt the other 1,760+ reviews have already commented on how sick and strange this flash is, so there goes the traditional "This shit is freaky" clause.
The music is quiet, and yet unsettling. The vocals are certainly not what you'd expect from finger puppets and a guy with salad fingers.
And the interludes deserve a small mention. 'Red water'. 'Over the Rainbow'. 'Fish in the Oven'.
Basically, this is a movie which shouldn't be watched if you are of a sensitive nature - by rights this should mean you shouldn't be a member of Newgrounds, but some people won't listen.
Kudos to the author for making another genuinely dsturbing movie, and good luck in the future.
